Audience: Public procurement professionals across the public sector
The Government of Ontario has released new directives under the Buy Ontario Act (Public Sector Procurement), 2025, aimed at encouraging the procurement of Ontario and Canadian goods and services across the public sector.
This session will explore what the Buy Ontario Procurement Directive means for public sector procurement and how it brings together previous policies, including the Building Ontario Businesses Initiative and the Procurement Restriction Policy, into a single, consolidated framework.

Marianne Smith
Marianne Smith is a commercial lawyer with over 20 years of experience and Practice Group Leader of the Procurement group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Her practice focuses on public procurement, infrastructure, and public-private partnerships, advising both public sector clients and bidders on procurement processes, risk, and major infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.
Karishma Prasanna
Karishma Prasanna is a commercial lawyer at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP whose practice focuses on public procurement, infrastructure, and public-private partnerships. She advises clients on procurement processes and the development of commercial agreements for infrastructure projects.
